Tarbiyyah

Tarbiyyah is not everything, but everything need tarbiyyah

Rasulullah s.a.w when he passed away, he didn't leave any glamorous buildings. The masjid of Madina was mud. The floor was sand, and the roof was palm leaves which will drip water on them when it rains.

Rasulullah s.a.w did not pave any roads. He did not established a financial network of business. Rasulullah s.a.w didn't leave behind any books.

All that Rasulullah s.a.w leave behind was QURAN!
And he left it behind not in MUSHAF, not in BOOKS. But he left it behind ENGRAVED in the heart of the sahabah r.a. That was the product that Rasulullah s.a.w left behind. That was the effort of the dawah of Rasulullah s.a.w.

He left behind the sahabah
And every blessings that we enjoy today is the result of that. The religion didn't spread much in the time of Rasulullah s.a.w. It spread in the time of Abu Bakar r.a and Umar r.a. It spreads in the time of Khilafah of Banu Umayyah and Banu Abbas. Rasulullah s.a.w has the sahabah that he trained in Makkah or in Madinah; which were not many (hundred or hundred plus). These are the ones who start off with him in Makkah.

But every one of these men, you could just THROW THEM ANYWHERE in this world and LEAVE THEM. LEAVE THEM! ALONE! They've take care the religion.

So TARBIYAH is the most important thing. It is more important than your buildings, the more important than the institutions.

The most important thing is the tarbiyah. And that is how Islam will carry on

I am his hearing with which he hears...

In a hadith qudsi, Allah ta’ala says, “My slave does not draw closer to Me with anything more beloved to Me than the things I have made obligatory on him. And my slave continues to draw closer with optional extra acts until I love him. And when I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he grasps and his foot with which he walks. If he asks Me, I will definitely give him, and if he seeks refuge with Me, I will definitely give him refuge.” [Bukhari]

Here is a du’aa the Prophet salla Allahu ‘alayhi wasallam used to make,

“O Allah, by Your knowledge of the Unseen and Your power over Your creation, keep me alive for as long as You know life is good for me, and cause me to die when You know death is good for me. O Allah, I ask You to make me fear You in secret and in public, and I ask You to make me speak the truth in times of contentment and of anger. I ask You not to let me be extravagant in poverty or in prosperity. I ask You for continuous blessings, and for contentment that does not end. I ask You to let me accept Your decree, and for a good life after death. I ask You for the joy of seeing Your face and for the longing to meet You, without going through diseases and misguiding trials. O Allaah, adorn us with the adornment of faith and make us among those who are guided. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.” [Sahih an-Nisa'i]

The Most Valuable

Jewels..

Umar ibn Khattab r.a knew what was most worthy and most valuable, and he wanted to give the sahabah a lesson. So they were sitting in a room, and he said,
 "Make a wish!"
One of the sahabah said; " I wish that this room would be filled with gold, so I can spend it in the path of ALLAH". Umar Ibn Khattab said,
"Make a wish!"
Another sahabah said that "I wish that this room would be filled with jewels and gems so I can spend it in the path of ALLAH". He said again,
"Make a wish!"
The sahabah reply " O Amirul Mu'minin, we don't know what to say. You want to filled this room with what?"

Umar ibn khattab r.a said, " My wish is that ALLAH s.w.t fills this room with the likes of Abu Ubaidah Amr ibn Al-Jarrah r.a, so that I can send them in the path of ALLAH." ( in other narration Abu Ubaidah r.a and Muaz ibn Jabal r.a)

Umar is telling them, and telling us that your human resources are more important than your financial resources. They are more important than your bricks or moor. They are more important than everything that you have. It is your HUMAN RESOURCES that count.
